This time of year and throughout, we are committed to giving back to society. Volunteering is our small way of saying “thank you” to our local charities and organizations.

Through our side project, Probonafide, we have helped raise funds to feed DC’s homeless and provided pro bono services to organizations supporting the well being of children. It has been a privilege to lend a hand to these amazing groups and individuals. If you’re still looking for a charity to donate to this holiday season, please check out our friends at WCCCI (World Centers of Compassion for Children International), ICEP (International Children Enrichment Program), and Martha’s Table.

A Roundup of Probonafide’s Charitable Efforts in 2009:

Santa Cause – Nguyet, Kim, Rhiannon, and Sarah of Probonafide crashed nclud’s “A Better Holiday” party and brought along jolly old St. Nick (thanks @JustinHerman), a polaroid camera (thanks @jgarber), and ugly sweaters. Donations started at $3 for a photo with Santa and all proceeds went to Martha’s Table. Their mission is to help at-risk children, youth, families and individuals in our community to improve their lives by providing educational programs, food, clothing, and enrichment opportunities.

O-Wines – When we first heard OWines’ motto: “Eat, Drink, and Give to Charity” we knew this female owned and operated business in Washington State would be a perfect fit for us. Their mission is to help low income, high potential girls by donating proceeds from O-Wines’ sales to fund college scholarships. Probonafide is honored to support Stacy and Kathy of O-Wines by maintaining their website. Please check them out and support their cause by purchasing a bottle of wine (or two!). Visit Website

WCCCI – Probonafide continued to support Betty Williams’ non profit organization in 2009 by providing website maintenance and enhancements. World Centers of Compassion is comprised of amazing people who are devoted to bringing peace, education, and safety to the world’s children. Please check them out and get involved. Visit Website

ICEP – International Children’s Enrichment Program contacted Probonafide to provide website maintenance for their organization. Their mission is to provide/build safe playground environments for children living at the edge of the world. Currently ICEP is represented in Haiti and Afghanistan. In the new year, Probonafide designers continue to work with ICEP to redesign their website. Be sure to stay tuned on our progress and check them out for ways to donate. Visit Website

And, to start off the new year for 2010:

Priestley Charter School of Architecture & Construction – Priestley is a Charter School founded in Post-Katrina New Orleans. The school and faculty work to help disadvantaged students focus on architecture and design in addition to strong academic remediation programs. When Jared Hueter, Dean of Design, contacted Probonafide for help with their web presence for the coming year, we were touched by their story and mission. The school serves as a community, providing young people with academic, vocational, social and leadership skills. Priestley is currently seeking to secure funding for operating costs, special projects and proper locations for instruction. Probonafide is honored to help and support their cause. Learn more about their story.

We hope that 2010 will hold many great things for these organizations, and encourage everyone to help out where they can, be it for our causes or your own concerns. We feel it helps make the world a better place for all of us.

We wish you a happy holidays, and look forward to the new year!
