My travel-artist friend, Elizabeth Briel sent these beautiful handmade paper from Thailand, made by Thai paper artist Supan Promsen. He is one of the papermakers featured in her new book, Paper Pilgrimage: Bombs, Bandits, and a Vanishing Art in Southeast Asia.

The paper is gorgeous, and made of pressed bamboo. I am inspired by the texture and have been dying to use them for a project. These portraits  were painted with the nail polish of the moment, in between moments of waiting for my nails to dry. Red is for the summer, and purple for the winter, while blue is a wild card. I don’t wear blue nail polish very often at all, but I have it in my collection just in case…
