After what seemed like an eternity our New Way Design business cards are finally ready for distribution. I have to admit they are so pretty I’ve had a hard time parting with any. Nguyet and I decided on letterpress for our printing method to showcase NWD’s attention to detail and high quality of work. We owe Travis Friedrich of ParkLife Press a big THANK YOU for his craftsmanship and diligent service.
Aside from the process of creating New Way Design’s corporate identity (which we will describe in another post) the process of designing our cards was relatively easy. Knowing we would be printing in letterpress helped to steer the design, since it is best suited for line drawing and type. A high quality paper is essential to letterpress and lucky for us Travis’s preferred paper is 100% cotton Somerset from England’s St. Cuthbert Mill. We decided on soft white paper and inks in deep plum and red to match our web site.
We tried a few variations of typeface and juxtaposition. In the end we decided “simple is better” and our perfectly pressed cards will communicate the philosophy which we advocate to our clients (along with our ever-important contact info ;-).

Beautiful cards guys! And congrats on the new website – great work!
All the best,
Aaron
